PCB stock update and HeyPhone web site

CREG now has only two sets of HeyPhone PCBs left, and zero stock of Pease beacons. We are not going to re-stock with either. PCB artwork for the HeyPhone is on the HeyPhone web site http://heyphone.org.uk For the Pease beacon, please contact Brian Pease (e.g. via http://bcra.org.uk/creg/ )

Why doesn't http://www.gharparau.org.uk work as well? That's the first instance Ive come across of someone has laudably set the DNS to accept a URL without a WWW, but who has not also allowed for the possibility of someone typing the WWW bit. Over to Wookey, I think? David Gibson Campaign for the E...

Re: HeyPhone PCB artwork

Nobody knows where the original artwork has disappeared to( APOLOGIES!!! That mesage was not from Rob Gill. It was from me. I accidentally clicked on "edit" instead of "quote" when replying to Rob's message and it seems that I have the power to edit people's posts :-) Rob: do you want to repost you...

Re: Corrections to HeyPhone documentation

Aha! I have finally located the note from John Hey on the PCB mod...

On the top of the transmitter board, there is a track which fuses with a
plated through hole which it shouldn't. John usually clears it with a sharp drill before shipping the boards.

Corrections to HeyPhone documentation

John Hey tells me...
There is a mistake is in the receiver theoretical drawing. The pot VR3 and C59 are shown going to the centre (4.5V) line whereas they connect to earth. The PC board is correct.

HeyPhone kit picking list

This snippet of information is not on the HeyPhone web site. John Rabson can provide a spreadsheet-based component list for the HeyPhone, showing suppliers' order codes, but he warns that it is a draft document that he wrote when building his own Heyphones some time ago. It is based on components av...

Re: DIM versus CIM

A friend of mine, recently, received a membership renewal form for BCA/BCRA. He was a bit puzzled by this, since as a member of a caving club, he pays his sub to the BCA as part of his membership of the caving club (a CIM, in other words). He was further puzzled to note that as a CIM, he is unable ...

PCBs for Flashgun Slave Units

Not exactly anything to do with cave communications but, since I make the rules ...

After being out of stock for a while, I have ordered a new batch of PCBs for my flashgun slave unit (the standard version, not the digital-camera version). See http://caves.org.uk/flash/newsletter.html

Re: PCB stock

CREG currently has four sets of HeyPhone PCBs for sale, and one set of boards for the Pease beacon. That Pease beacon PCB has now been sold. As I understand it, the position is that Brian Pease is not getting any more boards made. The PCB design is locked into using a particular manufacturer. Brian...

Looking on the bright side, I DID get a BCRA newsletter the other day, but since I'm not a member of the BCRA, per se, I'm not sure whether to classify this as a screw-up, or as a bonus. Definitely a bonus :-) BCRA and BCA made the decision to "share" newsletters during this protracted "consolidati...

(Sigh), Well, since Glenn Jones's address doesn't seem to be forthcoming, I have little choice other than to send it to the Great Clearing House in the Sky. There are several reasons why a "clearing house" is used, and why BCA would (Im sure) urge you to continue to use it even if Glenn's address d...
