BCA Council Vacancies

Want to get involved?

The BCA Council comprises the Executive (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer), Officers (Conservation and Access, Training, Youth Development, Equipment and Techniques, Publication and Information) and four representatives of individual and group members. These are appointed at our AGMs. Sometimes however a candidate isn't available at an AGM or a post-holder has to leave their role mid-term, thus leaving positions on Council vacant.

We are often seeking to recruit people to vacant posts mid-term on an 'acting' basis.

We are also often keen to promote roles on approach to AGMs, particularly where no clear candidate has been forthcoming.

The following are our current vacant positions. You must be an individual member of the BCA to apply (CIM or DIM). Travel expenses to meetings are paid. If any of these are of interest then please get in touch with secretary@british-caving.org.uk for more information.

Get involved and help us work in the best interests of British caving.

Current Vacant Roles

  • Conservation and Access Officer
  • Representative for Individual BCA Members

The Individual Representative role was left vacant following the 2019 AGM, and runs until the 2020 AGM in June. To try to get new people involved in BCA Council, we would like to appoint someone to the role on an ‘acting’ basis at the 11th January Council meeting. We would therefore like to hear from any BCA individual member keen to get involved in BCA Council, to represent the interests of others, and to work as part of BCA Council to the benefit of British caving. This would be a voting position lasting for two meetings (January and April) but with the option to re-stand for a full two year term at the AGM in June.

We advertised the Conservation and Access Officer position a few months ago, and we are pleased to say that thanks to this we have one very interested candidate (who joined us as an observer at the October meeting) who we are expecting to stand for the position on an ‘acting’ basis in January. However, other applicants are also extremely welcome.

Applicants should ideally be able to attend the 11th January and 4th April 2020 Council meeting and (assuming you wish to continue the role), the AGM in the Mendip Hills on 14th June 2020.

If either position is of interest to you then please contact secretary@british-caving.org.uk to ask any questions, and submit your application no later than 15th December. We recommend including a short application statement to circulation.
